The model above closely resembles his drawing. he emphasized the chassis, the straight lines of the windscreen, and the wheels. From similar studies he developed his series on "abstract speed", based on direct observation of speed cars. Balla, the pedestrian, made sketches of cars standing still, cars speeding by, wheels, vortexex, the density of atmosphere, and then, he interpreted all these sensations on the canvas in his studio
