Parco dei Daini
- Author of the reproduced work: Balla Giacomo
- Caption: 53. Parco dei Daini. (1910). Oil on canvas, 74 3/4 x 153 1 /4 inches. Galleria d´Arte Moderna, Rome. Designed as a mural for a living room, Balla´s concept of this composition, painted in the Divisionist technique, employed a loosely-constructed traditional prospective. However, Balla divided his architectural scheme for this large landscape into 15 panels. Then he took them one at a time out to the park, where he painted each one separately, standing at very different locations. The panels where subsequently assembled, and the actual landscape was re-organized according to Balla´s pictorial purposes. Such an assemblage-composition suggests what was to become the Futurists´ concept of simultaneity, of motion rendered as "space-time".
